"DESIGN OF ROLLING MILL STRIP AND ROLL COOLING SYSTEMS"

Abstract: The design of mill coolant and lubrication systems remains an area populated by fragments of theory and information, practical experience and opinions. The result is that the design of coolant systems entails a number of decisions, which are made based upon subjective experience. A mill thermal simulation model has been developed to assist in this area. The model predicts roll and strip temperatures for different rolled products and cooling configurations and examples of these applications are explored.
