"A MODEL FOR FLATNESS AND PROFILE PREDICTION IN HOT ROLLING"

ABSTRACT: A sophisticated profile and flatness prediction model for tandem rolling explicitly calculates buckle amplitude and includes models for transverse spread in the roll gap, high-speed creep between stands and profile change upstream of a stand due to interactions across the roll gap. It is currently being use by BHP at the Port Kembla hot strip mill to optimize rolling operations.
