HATCH IAS RECEIVES A FOURTH ORDER FROM XIN JIANG JOINWORLD CO. LTD
Xin Jiang Joinworld in Urumqi City, China has signed another contract with Hatch IAS to design, supply and commission an adaptive setup model for their new 1500mm cold aluminium rolling mill.

The new mill's shape and gauge control, selective roll cooling sprays bars and shape measurement roll will also be supplied by Hatch IAS under an earlier separate contract. The Level 1 controls and Level 2 model will be commissioned in mid 2011.

For the adaptive mill setup model Hatch IAS will install the on a Windows Server platform with the HMI provided in Chinese and English. The model's physics based algorithms are the latest incarnation of the ground breaking technology originally developed in the late 1960's. With four decades of continuous improvement and refinements the is suitable for hot rolling, cold rolling, temper rolling and this system is specifically tailored for single stand cold rolling.

The level 1 dynamic control system comprises the Hatch IAS platform which boasts open architecture VME based hardware incorporating a graphical programming interface and takes advantage of Hatch IAS' considerable process knowledge and includes: Thickness Control, Gap Control, Flatness Control and Roll Eccentricity Compensation.

ALERIS PLACES ORDER FOR SHAPE CONTROL SYSTEM
Aleris Rolled Products, North America has placed an order on Hatch IAS to design, supply and commission a strip flatness control system for their Clayton NJ plant.

The Hatch IAS system is a VME hardware based open architecture platform that incorporates an easy to maintain, graphical programming interface and standard off the shelf hardware components.

The scope of supply also includes a new high precision ABB solid shape measurement roll and new USC selective roll coolant spray bars.

SEVERSTAL BUYS COMPUTER BASED TRAINING

Severstal in Columbus MS has purchased licences for Hatch IAS's computer based training package known as APT - Advanced Personal Trainer.

The licences are for two DVD based, self paced training packages covering Fundamental Concepts in Flat Rolling and Operating Practices in Flat Rolling for the crew, maintenance personnel and other people associated with their tandem cold mill.

The licences are valid for 12 months and an unlimited number of trainees can utilize the training material as often as required. The course work has built in testing and administrator facilities to help ensure a positive learning experience for all users.

The APT content utilizes computer animations, voice over, video and text to present the learning material in a manner that can be easily absorbed and repeated if necessary until the administrator specified pass mark is attained.

NEW SHAPE AND GAUGE CONTROL FOR IMPOL
Impol of Slovenia has placed an order on Hatch IAS for an System incorporating hydraulic gap control, thickness control and shape control for their aluminium cold rolling mill in Slovenska Bistrica.

The shape control includes an interface to an existing Davy airbearing shape measurement roll. Roll cooling is via the existing Davy RSV selective coolant spray bars.

The automation system is a VME hardware based open architecture platform that incorporates an easy to maintain, graphical programming interface and standard off the shelf hardware components.
